Know where you and your Family Members will go if you have to evacuate.
Plan your Evacuation route(s).
Contact the Local Emergency Management Office and ask for the Community Hurrican Preparedness Plan.
Have Hurricane Supplies on hand in the event of a storm.
Make arrangements for pets. You may not be able to take them to the shelter with you.
Make Plans for Boats, Extra Vehicles, etc. You may not be able to take them with you.
Make sure all Family Members know how to respond after a Hurricane.
Teach Family Members how and when to turn off the Gas, Electricity, and Water Supply.
Develop an Emergency Communication Plan in case you and your Family Members get separated.
Ask an out-of-state relative to serve as the "Family Contact" person.
Make sure Family Members know the Name, Address, and Telephone number of the "Family Contact" person.
Bring in Outdoor objects such as Lawn Furniture, Toys, and Garden Tools.
Secure Home by Closing Shutters and/or Boarding up Windows.
Remove Outside Antennas.
